At 8pm
From our nations doorsteps
From our nations windows
From our nations balconies
From our nations gardens
We were urged to clap and applaud
Our National Health Service workers
I was caught unawares of this
While talking to my Uncle about toilet rolls
I heard the sounds of pots and pans
Cheering and clapping
Staring out of the window
Seeing them all young, exuberant
All I could think of was Howard Beale
From 'Network' saying:
'I'M AS MAD AS HELL
AND I'M NOT GOING
TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!'
